How hard is it to break free of internet addiction if someone is…..?
Question by SmartyPants: How hard is it to break free of internet addiction if someone is…..?
also depressed and has social anxiety? If for the past 2 years he has isolated himself with his computer and is now 17 with no friends and only has online “relationships” how hard is it to change if he wanted to? I mean he talks of moving out of his parents home and being a writer and even getting a drivers license someday but everyday is the same experience. online school for a few hours, maybe trying to write a poem and then a chat rooom until he goes to bed at 5 am. He doesnt go to therapy and has an intense hatered of society. How bad off is this guy? Thanks

its easy if this person decides to….start a new life outside. For eg. resume your studies /join a vocational course or take up a job.If you can cope with depression in that kind of life, you will cope with it better in a normal life.Dont waste your life on the idiot box anymore.Utilize your time.

He is not that bad off. I’m sure that he still goes to school so he might have some school friends that you do not know about. Perhaps his parents are very strict and don’t allow friends to visit.
Many young people have strict parents and though they appear to not have any friends, they do seem to succeed in life far better than those young people who spend all their time with friends and in social settings more than they do studies.
A “hatred of society” is more about the neighbourhood he lives in or about bullies at school rather than the general population. If he no longer attends school, a dropout, then there is concern for his welfare as he will be very depressed about his future and the thought of being successful at anything will be but a hazy dream.
I feel that he is going through a phase called “Teenage Angst” and it will pass by the time he is 18 years old. There is a whole new world as an adult so the younger years are just adjustment years to help him find his footing and path to the future that will determine his way.
you can if you tell yourself you really want to.
