Should health care be provided to all in America for free?
Question by jasin: Should health care be provided to all in America for free?
You think health care is expensive now wait until we just give away.
Do you all relaize that 60% of America already has or qualifies for free health care? Its called medicaid, va, and medicare.
Do you not also realize that an estimated 1/8 – 1/4th of all Americans are getting health care from their employers or former employers?
That’s over 70% of America that already has or qualifies for health care!! Why do we need to just give it away?
azawalli, i’m not a republican and I could careless what bill oriely thinks .. I dont even watch foxnews.
Shaneladd, free health care in Canada is not anything to brag about!! Why do you think all the Canadians are comming down here for their surgeries?
toddmcon, excellent point!
emanyio712, good point also.
chefantwon, you can thank Bush for that!!
Just think of what we could of done overhauling va and the such with 1/2 a trillion dollars, what we spent in iraq.
You could of built some really nice va hospitals with that money!! It only takes 12 million to build a state of the art hospital if it’s done right, with the right contractors and supplies.
Thats about 41 new va hospitals we could of built from the ground up and that would cover most all of the usa since va hospitals are regional not state by state.
Claudia, canadian health care sucks, the quality of care is so low that Canadians are jumping across the border to get procedures done here. If I was a canandian I’d do the same I would not wait over 6 months to have a life saving proceedure done.
Nothing is free, you are mistaken!! They have to pay into their system regardless of whether their given away for free or not.
The only reason they can get away with it easier then us is because europeans tend not to have as many health problems as we do. Americans just addmit, are fat, lazy, and over consumers of everything.
adensaa, canada has not, the quality of care there really sucks. Plus, I hear about funding issues on the cbc nearly everyday.

That is the big question. How do you pay for “free” health care? Those services have to be paid for. The doctors and nurses do not work for free. The supplies and medicines they use are not free. The hospital and all that is required to run it is not free. The machines they use are not free. There is nothing free on the supply side of the equation. Making the demand side free is going to have to be paid for. How do you do that? Tax every thing to death. That won’t do too much good for the economy.
