Why do antidrug sites say they promote truth when they censor anything not related to their cause?

Question by Jeremy: Why do antidrug sites say they promote truth when they censor anything not related to their cause?
Here is a post from someone who copied their messaged, which was never posted on “freevibe.com” and posted it on another website.

“Hello, I was just browsing and happened to come to your site. What disturbs me is how prejudiced and dogmatic the employees of this domain are. I am a 17 year old. I have a 3.997 GPA (out of 4.0), am 3rd in my class of 375, play hockey (head captain), run cross country and track, have played trombone for two years in my state’s All-State Orchestra, am an active member in the National Honor Society, serve on my school’s student council, scored above 30 on the ACT exam, am a National English Merit award winner, am a Voice of Democracy essay winner, and have never been in disciplinary trouble of any sort at school or otherwise. I volunteer in the community in the form of delivering Meals on Wheels, playing music for Habitat for Humanity, coaching younger hockey players at our local arena, and other ways, as well.
But, according to the “facts” of this site I am a troubled person. I have used marijuana 5-6 times per month for about the past 8 months. When I use marijuana I do so in the controlled environment of a friends house, not out in public. The marijuana we use is not from some dealer on the streets, but is homegrown- purchased as seeds from a legal overseas merchant. I know people attending the extremely selective schools of Northwestern University and Notre Dame that use marijuana, all the while do just fine in their studies. Our National Honor Society President uses marijuana. Your site makes it sound as if every person that uses marijuana is a loser. That is blatantly false- an outright lie. When people come to you for answers you steer them to documents containing only the negative effects of drugs, showing no mention of the positive. There has to be some reason or benefit that is gained from these substances, right?
Why would someone willingly take, for example, crack which according to your data, acts to “increase temperature/chest pain, respiratory failure, nausea, abdominal pain, strokes, seizures, headaches and malnutrition…”, with no positive effects. In no way am I condoning the use of crack, but I terribly disapprove of the way you present information. Next time someone asks for information try giving them the pro-marijuana documents, and the anti-marijuana documents. Here is a report by Dale Gieringer, Ph.D that you can use- “http://www.norml.org/canorml/myths/myth1.shtml”. Then let them decide. Humans declaring something illegal does not mean it is evil. This message is in no way in violation of the terms of service of your message board. I am not blatantly defending an illegal substance, merely questioning your way of handling information.
Sincerely,
The “bad kid”
Well, I can’t agree and say that it is rare, because I’ve moved between two states and all my friends I know that are involved with marijuana use, are either. Doing well, maintaining B and A averages, in school and maintaining out of school activities, martial arts for instance, or doing exceptional in school such as the above case. They generally have better outlooks on life than nondrug users and higher goals than most other people I know.

This shouldn’t surprise you. Anyone who’s dogmatically ANTI something is going to ignore contrary information our of necessity. You can’t change the mind of someone who refuses to listen, so why bother? Smoke your pot and let them bitch.

On the other hand, some anti-drug organizations have caught on that youth aren’t receptive to one-sided drug messages. I interviewed a woman from the Pot and Driving campaign ( http://www.potanddriving.cpha.ca/ ) and she was saying how youth are more aware of drug facts than anyone, so giving them biased information will just make them suspicious and tuned out. Mind you, this came from a woman whose campaign is not against smoking pot, but against driving while high.

I need information about eminems drug problem?

Question by : I need information about eminems drug problem?
I’m doing a health project and you have to write about a famous person who had a drug problem. I picked eminem a.k.a marshall mathers. I searched the web for information about his drug problem but i couldnt really find anything. I need to know what happened to him throughout his career , like when did he start using the drugs, when did he stop using them what kinda drugs did he use, when did it start affecting him , etc , And the questions i need answered are:

1. How did the addiction affect the persons career?
2. How did the addiction affect the persons relationship?
3. How did he start to get involved in drugs?
4. Was the person able to overcome his addiction? If so, how?

his addictions affected his career in quite a positive way, they actually served as the crazy lyrical madness that he produces. all of his older albums such as slim shady lp, marshall mathers lp, he was using im pretty sure.

im pretty sure they didnt affect his relationships in any good way though.

he has been around drugs his entire life. thats how someone gets involved.

he has definitely over come his addiction, you just really need to listen to his music, if you dont know about his music then you dont know him. go listen to “the slim shady LP” then move onto “the marshall mathers LP” then listen to “Recovery” and tell me if you hear a difference. its almost inspiring.

Pain-pill Addiction to Lortab & Xanax?!?help!?

Question by Heather: Pain-pill Addiction to Lortab & Xanax?!?help!?
Someone dear to me has been “clean” for a few years now from a Cocaine addiction. Lately, this person has been hanging out with this friend who provides Lortab & Xanax to my friend to be sold & for personal use. My friend just recently popped Lortabs & snorted 5 Xanax & has recently came clean to me that they are in fact “addicted to pills” now. This person is COMPLETELY aware that they have an “addiction” and is trying to “stop” cold turkey because they have NEVER done pills before, & they don’t want to go to Detox again. What can you do when you have friend(s) who provide you with pills & you are selling pills also. They also KNOW they need to quit hanging out with these certain individuals; yet they can’t seem to “get away” from them. I wish I knew what to do to help this person. My friend says all they think about is getting on their phone & calling up for pills & I can’t just take their cell phone. I doubt that’d even help. What can my friend do? and What can I even do???

I don’t normally answer questions in this section but recently I have been diagnosed with some things that require pain medication so I have been reading this section to see what people or going through.

My advise to you is be a good friend, be there for them, let them know you don’t support what they are doing. Suggest getting help to them. You know there is a old saying “you can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink” and this applies here. In all my readings I have found that for a person to want to quit or get help they have to reach their “bottom” and what might seem like a “bottom” to you or I, might not be to them. I think maybe when they reach their bottom that they will cry out for help….until then I think you being the friend can only offer your support. But make it clear your support is only for getting well and not for when they get caught and go to jail. Remember them in your prayers…..Its bad enough that they are abusing these drugs like they are but they are even selling them and there will come a day when they get busted. Maybe that will be their bottom. Maybe not. Unfortunately some people never reach their bottom until it is too late….they die from doing this. I would suggest getting off of them and get a doctor to help with this, I think they make a medicine that helps with the withdrawal symptoms and be there for them then while they are going through that and trying to help themselves. Its a vicious cycle they are involved in and I can only pray and hope that they see the light before it is too late. Please don’t take this on as your mission to fix them because you can’t…..not until they are ready for help. I think you are being a wonderful friend in even trying to help them. So many people just wash their hands of friends when they go down the wrong path. Just talk to them, suggest seeing a doctor to help with getting off of them. That is the best you can do. Taking their cell phones would accomplish nothing….except a angry drug addict and I don’t think you need to deal with that. I am sorry I seem like I am rambling I am just trying to help you to help them……

I wish you and your friends the best ~~
Peace be with you ~
